More than 900 people per day move into Florida, according to the Florida Chamber of Commerce. The largest number of new residents hail from New York, Georgia, Texas, New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Illinois.
So why do people want to move to Florida? According to data by the U.S. Census Bureau, buying a new or better home and starting a new job were two of the primary reasons given to move to the state. Having no state income tax and the $50,000 homestead exemption makes Florida attractive, as well.
According to WUSF Public Media, Florida is changing from a place that people only retire to or vacation in to one where they actually live. This is true for Americana Cove where we see a gradual change from seasonal residents to more full-time residents purchasing homes, notes Broker Marty Pozgay.
